How Can severe Persistent Cough Be Treated?

Hello. About 3 1/2 weeks ago I had a bad cold with sinus congestion and cough. I still haven t been able to get rid of the cough even tho I have no congestion. I ll feel a tickle in my throat and that sets off the coughing. Should I go see my doctor or is the persistant cough still from my illness a few weeks ago? Thanks.
